How much RAM for Enshrouded?

A rough guide based on your game. When in doubt, start small: you can change tier whenever you want.

Your gameRecommended RAM
Up to 16 players, no mods16 GB

You can change RAM at any time, without losing your save. Ballpark figures, surveyed in September 2026.

Where your Enshrouded server runs

You pick the country when you create the server. Which countries are available depends on the performance level.

PerformanceAvailable countries
Eco (shared vCPU)Germany · France · Finland · Netherlands · Romania
Dedicated CPU (dedicated vCPU)Germany · France · United Kingdom · Canada — North America (East — New York, Chicago, Montreal) · Poland · Italy

TickServ is operated by GONOTECH, a French company. If the provider is out of capacity in the country you picked, the fallback stays on the same continent.

Enshrouded 1.0: what about PS5, PC and Xbox crossplay?

Enshrouded 1.0 came out on 15 October 2026 on PC and PS5. There is no crossplay at launch: Keen Games is working on it, with no date (launch FAQ of 13 October). The Xbox Series X|S version is pushed back to spring 2027.

In practice, an Enshrouded dedicated server is a PC server: only PC players can join it, and a PS5 player stays in their console’s own games. Better to say so before you rent than after.

Is your group on PC? The server is ready as soon as you start it, billed by the started hour, €0 while stopped, first hour free.

Enshrouded server: your own PC, a monthly plan or TickServ?

To be fair: a €8.00 plan is cheaper than us beyond roughly 133 hours of play a month. TickServ is built for groups that do not play around the clock; if your server must run all the time, take a plan.

Frequently asked questions

Does it run Enshrouded 1.0?

Yes. Our servers run the 1.0 dedicated server (Steam app 2278520) under Wine, which avoids the “Version Mismatch” (No SteamUtils011) that hits the Proton variant of the common Docker image.

Is there crossplay between PS5 and PC?

Not at launch: Keen Games says it is working on it, with no date. Our servers are PC servers, so only PC players can join them for now.

How much RAM does an Enshrouded server need?

We measured about 1 GB idle on 1.0, and the publisher states up to 6 GB with players. We recommend 16 GB to keep headroom for a full game.

Can I import my Early Access save or my world0.ksd?

Yes. Pack your savegame folder and import it when you create the server (.zip / .tar.gz); a lone zipped world0.ksd is placed in savegame/ for you, and the World Mover recognises Enshrouded by that file. An Early Access world (a file named 3ad85aea) is converted by the game on first start into world0.ksd, and the original is moved to migrated/.

Why two passwords?

Enshrouded groups players by role: the player password lets friends in, the admin password gives server rights. Both are generated for you and shown in your console.

How do I stop a guest from wrecking my base (griefing)?

Enshrouded handles permissions through groups, each protected by its own password. Here two groups are created with two different passwords: give the player one to your friends and keep the admin one for people you trust. Fine-grained rights per group are set in enshrouded_server.json; our free configurator generates and validates it.

“Server Overloaded” on Enshrouded 1.0: do you need more RAM?

Not first. The message means the server is running short of compute time: according to hosting guides it shows up when many regions of the world are active at once, that is when players spread out, and RAM does not change that by itself. Three levers: keep the group together, lower “Number of enemies” in the settings (the preset switches to Custom), and take a dedicated-CPU tier when the group splits up — the Eco tier, with shared vCPU, suits a small group playing together. Keen has not documented an official fix and the message sometimes returns even on big machines, so we promise no miracle.
