# enshrouded_server.json generator and validator

Set the 1.0 difficulty sliders, the password groups and the slot count, then download a clean enshrouded_server.json. Already have a file that breaks? Paste it in the Validate tab: it tells you where the extra comma is, which duration is in the wrong unit and which group has no password.

## Frequently asked questions

### Where do I put enshrouded_server.json?

At the root of the server’s install folder, next to its executable: the server creates it on first launch. Stop the server before replacing it, then start it again.

### Why durations like 1800000000000?

The file counts durations in nanoseconds: 1,800,000,000,000 ns is half an hour, the default day. The generator lets you type minutes and does the conversion.

### My difficulty settings have no effect, why?

Because the preset is not “Custom”. With Default, Relaxed, Hard or Survival, the game ignores gameSettings. Set gameSettingsPreset to “Custom”.

### What happens if a group has no password?

According to the publisher’s documentation, any player can join the server with that group’s rights. An Admin group without a password therefore gives administration to anyone.

### Is my data sent anywhere?

No. Generation and validation run in your browser: neither the file nor the passwords leave your machine.

## Don’t want to edit JSON by hand?

On TickServ these sliders are right in your panel, at €0.06/h (first hour free). The server stops by itself when everyone has left: €0 while stopped.
